"What Rhymes With Design?" Is a monograph I created in 2024 about the history of Hip-Hop with a focus on the 90s and early 2000s. This monograph dives deep into how African-Americans influenced popular culture in the United States during these eras. It also explores the roots of other urban art forms such as graffiti and urban fashion.
My goal with this monograph was to explore urban & underground art forms that may of otherwise been looked down on in the professional art world at this time. With the remerging Y2K movement, I also demonstrate that most of these styles and art forms translate into trends we know, love and practice today.

Process
My table was very messy at this point
Attempt #25 of getting the "perfect" splatter.
I wanted to share this portion of my process as I love to explore multimedia mediums in graphic design. This process included a lot of raw ink, cardstock paper, and a HUGE mess. After getting the perfect splatters, I scanned it into the computer and then implemented these motifs throughout the Monograph to give continuity throughout. I did these motifs to pay homage to the graffiti styles shown in the monograph.
